Privacy policy

What we collect

When you use the valuation or consignment form we collect your name, phone number, email address, suburb and postcode, along with the details you give us about your machine — make, model, year, hours, condition and anything you type in the notes.

We also record how you arrived (referring page and any campaign tags in the link), your browser user-agent, how long you spent on the form, and a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address. The hash is used to rate-limit submissions and detect automated abuse. We do not store your raw IP address.

Why we collect it

To value your machine, to contact you with an offer, and to arrange collection if you accept it. The condition and specification details also feed our internal pricing model, which is how we are able to quote from realised sale results rather than guesswork.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is handled by three parties on our behalf:

• Our database and file hosting provider, where the submission is stored.
• Our transactional email provider, which delivers the confirmation email to you and the notification to us.
• Where you accept an offer, a transport operator — who receives only the address and contact details needed for the pickup.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it.

Consignment listings

If you submit a machine for consignment, your contact details and your reserve price are never published. Only the description, specifications and photos of the machine appear on the public listing, and only after we have reviewed and approved it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries while they are active and for a period afterwards, because a seller who did not proceed this year often comes back. If you would rather we deleted yours sooner, ask us and we will.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email leads@machinerysalesdirect.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Campaign information travels in the link you clicked and is stored with your enquiry, not in a cookie on your device.
